You can usually get a free trial for a month. Bloomberg has X subscribers at 24k per year. Unless you are super wealthy it is obviously not worth it as a retail investor. When you work at a large firm the company gets a discount (depending on # of terminals and contract term. The platform also isn't very user friendly. If there is one thing that pisses me off about BB is that the 3rd party vendors add-ins are way overpriced. Continuous product enhancements at no cost to existing subscribers. Bloomberg chat also makes it inconvenient to switch to Capital IQ or Reuters. smarter decisions with comprehensive legal research software from Bloomberg Law. Bloomberg has also been trying to build functions for VC/PE albeit they're still quite useless. I find Capital IQ better for IB (M&A) but for asset management/HFs/ trading Bloomberg is the best (data aggregator of financial prices/econ #s, modeling, valuation tools, statistical analysis). Bloomberg has to pay each exchange for data (you have to pay premium for real-time quotes) as well as to run operations for a huge platform that is continually growing. ![]()
